The Challenge
WashApp needed a robust mobile-first platform to manage their growing on-demand laundry service business in Sri Lanka. The challenge was to create a seamless user experience that would handle complex logistics including real-time order tracking, multiple service types (wash+press, dry clean, express), dynamic pricing, driver management, and payment processing—all while ensuring reliability and scalability for thousands of daily orders.
My Solution
I developed a comprehensive on-demand service platform for WashApp featuring native mobile apps for iOS and Android built with React Native, providing an intuitive booking experience with real-time order tracking. The backend is powered by Node.js and Express with MongoDB for efficient data management, Firebase for real-time notifications and updates, and Stripe integration for secure payment processing. I implemented a sophisticated logistics system with Google Maps API for route optimization, automated scheduling for pickups and deliveries, and a real-time dashboard for managing orders, drivers, and inventory. The platform supports multiple service types including standard wash+press, dry cleaning, express 24-hour service, and commercial services, with dynamic pricing based on item type and service level.
